Niagara Falls Freezes Over

It doesn't happen very often. In fact, it rarely happens at all. But, this winter Niagara Falls has frozen twice.

When it happened yesterday, photographers were at the ready to record the moment. Here's one photo, as a tease. Many more photos, with a video are in the Daily Mail.

Gorgeous: Lights illuminate the frozen Falls as temperatures drop into single digits

Ummm... It's because of global warming... No, climate change... No, extreme weather. Wait, weather isn't climate, so what is it? That's right, it's incontrovertible evidence that the Earth is getting warmer because of human activity. Look -- there's ice, for God's sake! Niagara Falls is FROZEN! If we don't "do something," the biosphere will collapse soon, maybe immediately with hockey sticks and all. I'm so glad that Apple said that climate change deniers shouldn't buy it's stock. What a courageous statement. California is in a drought. Deniers are dangerous pond scum...

Blah, blah, blah.

Yes, the climate is changing, and weather is weird. The question is: Are we certain that it's because of human activity? It would be wise to determine this before we launch headlong into this government money- and power-grab. The disscussions about this topic are hysterical, with the loudest voices not being scientists, but people who have no clue what they're talking about. It's the usual Malthusian crowd with a new coat of paint.
